Surreal AI fashion: 14 prompt patterns to copy

Fourteen plain-word prompt patterns for surreal AI fashion: materials, hair, outfits, places and camera looks, with real genvi examples.

Surreal AI fashion is a simple trick: one strange material or shape, worn by a calm person in an ordinary place. This guide gives you 14 prompt patterns you can fill in and use in genvi.
A prompt is the words that tell the AI what to make. Each pattern below has blanks in [square brackets]. Fill them with your own ideas. A model is the AI program that makes the picture. The patterns are written generically, so they work with any image model. The pictures show what the patterns look like when we filled them in for four original characters. For the full walk-through, read how to make a weird AI influencer.

Rules before you start

  • Invent, do not imitate. Never name a real person, a celebrity or an existing film or cartoon character. Describe the look you want instead.
  • Change one thing at a time. If you swap material and place together, you will not know which word did what.
  • Say the strange part clearly. The AI often softens odd details back to normal faces.

Materials

The material is the heart of the look. Pick one.
1. Impossible skin
An adult [role] with [material] skin that [what it does to light], standing in [ordinary place].
Example fill: "mirror-chrome liquid-metal skin that reflects the room." Another: "translucent clear-glass skin that refracts light into faint rainbow edges."
2. Repaired porcelain
An adult [role] with smooth white porcelain skin crossed by fine gold-repaired cracks, glass marble eyes, [pastel] clothes.
3. Soft handmade body
A [age] [role] whose entire body is made of needle-felted [colour] wool with visible fibres, tiny bead eyes, a round head on a narrow body.
Handmade materials like wool or clay look playful, not lifelike. That is the point.
4. Say it twice
Add a closing line such as "skin clearly transparent" or "face and hands clearly made of wool".
A woman with clear glass skin and a crystal bob takes a selfie in a laundromat wearing a white wool coat
Juno Prism, clear glass skin, in a laundromat. Made with GPT Image 2.5 Flare.

Hair and face

5. One sculpted haircut
[Material] hair in [one geometric shape], for example a blunt bowl cut, a faceted crystal bob, or one swept-back wave.
6. Stretched proportion
A very long elongated neck / an oversized round head on a narrow body / a tall narrow frame.
7. Flat face
Flat deadpan expression, calm unsmiling, eyes looking straight at the camera.
A flat face makes the strange material the only thing happening. It also helps the same character look like the same person from picture to picture.
A woman with white porcelain skin, gold repair lines and a black bowl cut waits at a rainy bus stop
Mabel Quill, glazed porcelain with gold seams and a bowl cut, at a rainy bus stop. Made with GPT Image 2.5 Flare.

Outfits

8. One loud piece
[Plain outfit] with one [bright colour] [satin bomber jacket / long coat / blazer].
9. Sculptural shape
An asymmetric sculptural [white wool coat] with one oversized sleeve.
10. Oversized and ordinary
An oversized [mustard corduroy blazer] over a plain knit.
Pair a strange body with ordinary clothes in one strong colour.
A needle-felted wool man with a cream spiral of hair and a mustard blazer walks across a zebra crossing
Tobias Fenn, a playful felt puppet in a corduroy blazer, on a crosswalk. Made with GPT Image 2.5 Flare.

Places

11. The plainest place you can find
[Character], [simple action], in a [laundromat / supermarket aisle / bus stop at night / zebra crosswalk at golden hour].
12. Small props
Holding [a paper cup / a shopping basket / a basket of towels / a lemon].
The contrast between a strange body and a dull place is the whole joke. A shopping basket does more than a castle.

Camera

13. Phone look
Candid phone selfie, vertical frame, bright overhead lights, slightly crooked.
14. Flash or film
Night flash photo / 35mm film snapshot / golden hour, direct on-camera flash.
Name the camera the way a person would hold it. Words like "selfie", "vertical vlog frame" and "flash at night" make the picture look like a social media photo, not a studio shot.
A felt wool man in a mustard blazer sits on a white plastic chair next to a laundromat dryer
Tobias Fenn waiting by a laundromat dryer. Made with GPT Image 2.5 Flare.

A quick way to test a pattern

Run the same sentence twice and change one blank. Try "wool" in one and "glass" in the other, with the same place and the same camera line. Put the two results side by side and keep a note of which word made the difference. After five or six tests you will know which words your model follows well and which it softens.
Keep the winning words in a notes file. Reuse them for each new character, so the family of looks feels like one account.

Putting it together

Join one pattern from each group. A full prompt might read: "A [character] with [material] skin, [haircut], [loud jacket], calm deadpan expression, [action] in a [mundane place], candid phone selfie." Then save the character in References, which is where genvi keeps saved characters. Use Persona, which puts a saved character into new scenes, so you only change the place. The steps are in the main AI influencer guide.
When you are ready to move your character, see how to turn an AI character into video, and read the disclosure rules before you post.

What it costs

Each try costs credits and you see the price before you run. Test your wording with one or two takes. Plans and credits are on the plans page.

FAQ

Can I use these prompts in any model?

Yes. They are plain words. Results differ by model, so try the same prompt in two models and compare.

Why does my strange detail keep getting softened?

Say it again in different words and make it the only unusual thing in the picture.

Can I prompt for a famous face?

No. Invent your character. genvi can refuse requests aimed at real people.

How long should a prompt be?

One or two sentences is enough. A short prompt with a clear material beats a long one.
